War in Ukraine

On February 24, 2022, russia has started a war against Ukraine. If you are a foreigner and would like to assist Ukraine, here are some concrete steps you can take:

  • Write letters/call to your government with your concern and clear suggestions. Besides strengthening of the existing sanctions, of utmost urgency are: military assistance to Ukraine in the form of weapons, equipment, in particular, air defence weapons; direct financial help/donations; humanitarian assistance. Other topics are: designation of russia a state supporter of terrorism, expulsion of russian diplomats, suspension of issuance of travel visas for russian citizens.
  • Donate. Some trusted sources are: Come back alive foundation, Serhiy Prytula foundation, Razom for Ukraine, Canada-Ukraine Foundation Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
  • Learn from reliable and fact-checked news (some sources from Ukraine in English: censor.net, The Kyiv Independent), beware of Russian misinformation. Spread the word, talk to people, join/organize a rally in support of Ukraine.
  • Boycott russia on all levels, do not buy goods or use services from russia or from worldwide labels/businesses which still operate in russia. An example where to check is here. Most of these brands have easily googlable online contact forms, and you can spend a couple of minutes sending them a quick message demanding to pull from russian market and stop supporting the war.
